How our nanotechnology treatment protects your surfaces

A simple explanation of what the Nano hydrophobic treatment is, how it works on a roof, wood or concrete, and why reducing water absorption extends the life of your surfaces.

What is nanotechnology?

Protection that works at the scale of the surface’s pores.

Our treatment is formulated to penetrate at an extremely small — nanometric — scale into a material’s porous structure. Rather than simply coating the surface like paint or varnish, it becomes part of the material itself, changing how it behaves with water without changing its visible appearance.

UntreatedTreated — hydrophobic effect
Untreated surface

Water penetrates directly into the surface’s pores, promoting absorption and speeding up degradation over time.

Nano-treated surface

The surface becomes hydrophobic: water beads and runs off instead of soaking in, helping protect the material.

How it works

Four steps, continuous protection.

The product is applied to the surface by a certified installer. It penetrates the material’s porous structure, fills the micro-cavities responsible for water absorption, then creates a durable, breathable hydrophobic barrier — the surface stays protected without being sealed shut.

Why it matters

Reducing water absorption means protecting the surface.

In Canada, exterior surfaces are exposed to UV rays, rain, snow, humidity and freeze-thaw cycles, factors that speed up their aging. By creating a lasting water-repellent barrier, our treatment limits moisture penetration and buildup in the material, reducing the conditions that promote mold, moss and lichen growth, while also helping protect the surface from the effects of UV rays and slowing premature aging.

Protect the surface

A hydrophobic barrier that helps limit the material’s exposure to water.

Reduce water absorption

The filled porous structure limits water penetration into the material.

Extend its lifespan

A surface better protected against water is a surface we help preserve longer.

Frequently asked questions

What our clients ask most often.

What is a hydrophobic treatment?

A hydrophobic treatment changes how water behaves on a material’s surface: instead of soaking in, water beads and runs off. This helps reduce water absorption in surfaces exposed to weather.

How does nanotechnology work on a roof?

The treatment penetrates the shingle’s porous structure at a very fine scale, which helps reduce water absorption and protect the surface from exterior exposure.

Why protect asphalt shingles?

Asphalt shingles are exposed to UV rays, rain, snow and freeze-thaw cycles. Reducing water absorption can help preserve the surface longer.

What is the difference between hydrophobic and water-repellent?

Both terms describe similar water-resistance properties. In everyday language they are often used interchangeably to describe a surface that repels water rather than absorbing it.

Can an aging roof be protected?

Yes, depending on its condition. Nano-Revive is our solution designed for aging roofs that need a revitalization and protection approach, generally for roofs around 10 to 25 years old.

How do I know which Nano solution fits my surface?

It depends on the surface type (roof, wood, concrete) and its condition. A certified installer can assess your surface and recommend the right solution among Nano-T, Nano-Revive, Nano-B and Nano-BT.
